Go! Smell Something a Little Fishy?
September 11th, 2007 by JimWe posted about what was beyond the veil, now we’re wondering what’s really in the deep blue sea! Sailors have pondered the depths of the world’s oceans for thousands of years, but we’ve only recently begun plumbing the deepest areas of the oceans. Who really knows what’s down there?
Totally-Useless, a blog about things that may seem useless on the surface but are really not, has featured a couple of really intriguing Youtube videos with some examples of the intriguing mysteries of the ocean and the world.
We’ve found our own bestiary at NOVA Online filled with creatures of the deep that most researchers recognize. What’s the difference between these creatures and those that make up myths of the world?

They say that there are un discovered depths and shelves of the sea just too deep for exploration (evil laugh), Sushi anyone?
What’s down there? Water.
Creatures, what’s the difference? - these are real animals and it is proven they exist, myths are not proven.
Not complicated admin.
Obviously offspring of the Lochness monster, or what I imagine Gary’s girlfriends look like after the sexist comments he made in the battleship pictures!
trust me Mel all my tarts are A1. I have weigh-inns each week and if they add weight 2 weeks on the trot they are dumped.
Apparently I am ‘worth it’ however.
It might not be difficult admin but it really is quite interesting. I am fascinated by what’s down there especially as new species are being discovered all the time. I’m also a little bit drunk and might be a bit sick soon.
I also reeeaaally like the music in the second video, if someone could tell me what it is, that would be great, thanks.
Tarts? A1, as in the steaksauce? Over here in America it sounds a lot like you’re talking about food…and weight gain.
Good point Gareth in China! We may have been a little vague with that question. We’re simply trying to get readers thinking about what makes mythological creatures such as Nessie, complete bunk to some people and plausible to others.
For instance, through history there have been many creatures that were thought to be made up and later turned out to be real. The first explorers in Africa came back with reports of giant hairy apes, that many thought were false, but we now know of as being reports of the Gorilla. There is also the recent ‘discovery’ by science of the Giant Squid. Yet, stories about giant squids have been persistant for hundreds of years. They were a bit overblown perhaps, but still there. Nessie, may be real, but she may actually only be about two feet long! We just don’t know. : )
Hey, it’s what we don’t know is what keeps life so interesting!
True Morgan, thats what made blair witch sooo scary, what you didnt see….
funkygirl I like the food analogy and totally understand where you are coming from.
After all when shopping for both you always go for the nicest presented, you then pay your money, consume it and get rid of it when you feel the time is right. Also you can take it back if the sell by date is wrong or if it smells funny.
Nice one funkygirl its good to see a more realistic female on here. Good girl.
(I know she will be walking prouder now she’s pleased a man)
