GO! Smell the flowers focus!

August 29th, 2008 by Jim

A flowers blog update for all and we’d love some honest & constructive feedback:

As our founders return from their vacations, staycations and generally ploughing on with life we’ll all be raising the quality of content here at GSTF from September 1st 2008. This is in preparation for us becoming the on and offline magazine for Flora2000 and hopefully the community of choice to all their 100’s of 000’s flower smelling customers where people learn from people!

In mid August we put together a content focus document and asked the founders to let us know their % split of the following GSTF content topics:

  • Health
  • Travel
  • Inspiration
  • Food
  • Books
  • Fun / General

We’ll also be hunting down guest writers who purport to be experts in the appropriate fields who can post from time to time and get amongst it here with the regulars and feel part of the team.

The results will be shared here in the middle of September on a visit to RYK and the gang in India who are busy looking at all the wonderful viral techniques and strategies we can apply to make this place the online community of choice. Technically and software wise we’re ready to GO! and get very busy!

Some founders are moving on, others are 100% in with a clear focus and a few still deciding what their focus will be which is all part of the process in the form, norm, storm and perform of becoming an effective team:

So, we ask you all - feel free to let us know what you’d like to see more or less of here at GO! Smell the flowers. Any topic ideas around those we’ve mentioned above and DO YOU know anyone who may enjoy reading and adding comments to the posts and forums here at GSTF?

We’ve the fourms section that anyone can join and start their own threads if a chatroom approach is more appealing as we strive here at the main blog to inspire others, learn from each other and have healthy on-topic debates - fair?

What does GSTF mean to you?

Do tell, your feedback at this juncture in most welcome so we can take it on board and make GSTF the best it can be! Thanks.

I would like to see more of:

1) Carmen Electra and Pam Anderson doing naked mud wrestling (duh)
2) jokes about waterboarding
3) pictures of me (if you could superimpose them on top of #1, I’d appreciate it)

I would like to see less of:

Richard Simmons.

Guy freaks me out.

Thanks in advance.

Yes, a romance section as a guise for Bridget to have a torrid virtual love-life and build her cyber harem! :-P

You can be the gate-keeper who keeps undesired intruders from barging in and disrupting her priceless virtual moments with the elected ones :-P Game? ;)

That is a JOKE!

A His and Hers section Pagan where you and I for instance can trade tips on how to wow our respective significant other, wouldn’t that be wicked? ;)

that could be a good idea Ms Jones. I’m impressed. And as for the tips anything you need to know just ask. I am here to help, as ever.

Keypoints- don’t get in the way of his football! What team does maey support?? You do know that whatever team you support must be cast asunder? tis just the way it is.

Eh? What kinda tip is that!!! Whatever team she supports must be cast asunder?! Isn’t that rather dictator-like?! Boo hoo!

Here’s the good news Pagan, it so happens we both support the same team - that’s Liverpool :-P If you don’t have a team yet, it’s okay you can support ours, and you’ll never again walk alone! :-P

And why are you calling my man Maey?? Sounds like a Chinese lady’s name! There, you can call him Mr. Superman Sir.

Bring on september - august has been dreadful for the weather here in UK. At least Sir Elt’ had the right idea and went tripping round venus.

And people will need something decent to read in the cold dark winter evenings won’t they. Even that David!

I’m excited about the new changes and I feel like I’ve already answered what does GSTF mean to me. Why, it is even on the site!!! (Thank you). But, I will add that for the most part I like the balance of topics because there is something for everyone. And, most posts allow for commenting even if you are not famililar with the topic. GSTF is a place where you can get involved at any level you choose. It makes you think, challenges you, informs, makes you laugh, encourages, supports and gives you a worldwide variety of opinions. I like being able to bring up topics in the Forum. I just wish there was more people involved (or maybe I don’t!). I like the variety of knowlegde; however, it would be nice not to be a lone Christian sometimes, but I usually hold my own. I know they are out there, but speaking your mind when it is not the majority is tough. But, I liked that challenge. I would like to know more about some of the people that comment rather it feeling like just someone off the street. I know that others know who people are, but for those that a new or unfamiliar to the community, I can see how it can be intimidating or confusing. I really like that I can just be fun and silly to having topics that are challenging and thought provoking. This is such a good site for me in my life right now and I’ve “met” some really fantastic people!!!

Oh, at times, I feel a bit lost with the language because I am an American, but I’m picking things up and my spelling is becoming questionable. But, I will ask if I don’t know. That way I learn more about different cultures. The site does lean a bit toward UK stuff, so a larger variety would be nice. Jim & Em, I really like the way that you try to bring in a variety of countries and how you explain things…it is helpful. I am excited for the changes yet to come. Ready to GO Smell New Flowers.

GSTF…… what does it mean to me?

A lively and friendly place of refuge, wherein you may lose yourself in serious debate, engage in, or observe social shenanigans, or pure bunkum in a harmless manner. How serious you may interpret any of it is up to you, the individual.

And whether you visit daily, or once in a blue moon, consistency of atmosphere is where GSTF succeeds.

But does that help as to where it should go? Probably not, but so long as it maintains that unique rapport with and between commentors, it will always be of value, and for me, that’s an indication of major accomplishment.

Come in, take part, drop out, come back. It’s like a friend who forgives you your social ignorance, bears no grudges and smiles at your return.

Anyone else feel like puking up? (anyone else know how to make those smiling faces with different amusant expressions?)

Why, that was one very sentimental piece coming from the formal Rex Stormont!

But says who you have been forgiven your social impairs? Ha! ;)

Hmmm, does ‘impair’ exist in English as a noun?? Just in case, impair© Bridget Jones :D

Writing down ‘bunkum’, new word for Bridget!

YAH!
*nods head*
I’m a wreck, but I promise to pull my head out of mind numbing and useless drivel (games) at FaceBook.
I have to admit, I am a kick ass mobster.
My Tour on Battle of the Bands is amazing, my fairy garden is lush, my Might of Many Guild is truly a force to be reckoned with and … I won the last Scavenger Hunt.

**crickets chirp**

Hey man, listen … I’ve been subpoenaed four times in the last month (yes, FOUR times … okay?) had to fill out divorce papers, sent one kid off to University and another for her final year of high school, found my oldest a job, worked as many hours as I could at the corporate gig I was fortunate enough to land, shuffled off my editor at The Hiss Quarterly for being a major doosh (he fired himself — after five years, the man actually freakin’ fired himself) and that’s only the tip of the mountain.

I feel like Sisyphus.

But I’m in, because remember, every garden needs a hoe. Right?

**crickets still chirping**

Okay.

You’ll learn to love me. I swear it.

~muah!~
