Go! Smell The Ghosthunting

Posted on July 26th, 2008 by taylorblue

So the other day, me and my family went on a trip to the local pioneer village. Or at least I will call it that. It has all the old houses that were around since Calgary (Alberta, Canada) first started. I tell you me and my digital camera had fun orb hunting! You can see orbs in digital camera’s and not with the naked eye. (Orbs are spirit ghosts I suppose.) Now in all of these orginal houses there are doors and there is glass so you can look through them but not touch anything. In this room I found some crazy orbs, jumping all around…and in the center of the red dot there is one I captured. You can click on the picture to make it larger.

Whether you believe me or not is up to you. I am a very spiritual person and I totally believe they were there. Some day I’ll be able to tell you my ghost stories…

Do you believe in ghosts?

  1. Yes and No, I believe in spirits, but not sure about ghosts. No questions about my distinction, but I do have one and don’t want to explain.

  2. AngryfromEllesmerePort says:

Sounds like you’d been on the spirits before you took the photograph - all nonsense

  3. I am not sure if I will believe in ghost but I has a very strange encounter when I was a kid.

I was sleeping in a room with my mum by my side. Slightly after midnight, I suddenly awoke and saw an apparition of my mum praying on top of a book shelf. You see, the altar that she was supposed to pray was outside the room but I saw her on the BOOK SHELF, now how do you explain someone to actually stand on a book shelf that is as tall as me at 1.6mtr? Besides, my mum was next to me sleeping soundly. I was naturally scared and I went back to sleep with the blanket on covering my head.

So, that’s my strange encounter but it is hard for me to say whether I believe in ghost or anything similar to that..

    Hi TaylorBlue….

Thanks for sharing this - how did the room feel?

    Any shivers down the spine?

The ghosts with white sheets and eyes don’t exist in our book but a presence / energy can’t be dismissed -cynics would argue it’s a smudge on the lens but we’re in on the orb you’ve circled - also bottom right of the photo - more distorted energy?

  5. Lib says:

Mmmm, not sure about the orb thing.

I looked at some photos I took a few weeks ago in a club in Ibiza and there were some ‘orbs’ on that and as far as I’m aware, the only ’spirits’ in there were of the alcoholic variety.

Having said that, my mum has had far too many encounters for me to argue with. And although she is a fan of alcoholic spirits, most have been whilst not under the influence.

She has no reason to lie so I have to believe her.

I don’t really tend to think about this stuff as it really doesn’t affect me. I’m far more interested in the here and now and the ‘living’ people that are around me.

  7. aussiecynic says:

    Ghost yep… no surprises there….
orbs not sure about.. ghosts I have seen thats easy… but I never seen on orb….
Hubby took a photo once of the Bathurst car race on the tv and reflected on the screen was a fireplace complete with a fire blasing … the funny thing was the fireplace had been blocked up for 20 years and bricked up.. that was interesting…

  8. Urban Pagan says:

    hahaha
    more new age nonsense.

    orbs.

    absolute rot.

I like the way that these spirits had the foresight to enable their presence to be seen using camera technology rather than actuallyappearing

orbs, spirits, ghosts- just another example of people refusing to accept mortality. we have a life when its done we are dead. thats it. end of.

    why can’t people accept this?

why are no ghosts caught on camera??? because they don’t exist

  9. Urban Pagan says:

    hahaha its all nonsense-

    a question

why on these ghost hunter shows do they insisty on hunting when its dark- are ghosts light sensitive???

and orbs are simply dust reflecting

  10. Urban Pagan says:

    ‘doubters’ or realists??

      Pagan..
This is one subject I can honestly say I have experienced… and let me just remember you whether it is science or supernatural topics.. there is more on things in the heavens and on earth than can be explained away or understood by even our advanced brains… perhaps in another 100 years of evolution and scientific theory exploration we may know wxactly what the causes are but until then they will remain a mystery to all who see them … even science has not been able to explain orbs, ghost etc… whether you believe in them or not… these things are sighted and documented on a regular basis and as yet science has not been able to tell anyone what they are… perhaps one day they may… but it will not be your lifetime or mine…

      • Taylor Blue says:

I have experienced it to…that is why I believe…it only takes a close minded person to want to bash other’s theories… :(

        • aussiecynic says:

some times Taylor it is not so much the closed mind as the scared one…. a person who is frightened of what they may find if they open their mind to new experiences often can do little else than try and squash and belittle the thoughts, beliefs and lives of others…. I dont find such bashing as frustrating as sad … I do pity the person who is so afraid of what the unknown may bring as to shut it out completely…
and Taylor I love your post….

        • Taylor Blue says:

You know it is scary to open your mind…to think like that…I used to be scared like that…but now I just let it happen. People literally look at me funny but I don’t care. I believe it…so that’s all that matters.

This is one of those subject which I too can go on and on about.. experiences which are too weird and have as yet not been explained… like my bike accident when I went over the handle bars of my bike head first (no helmet) into on coming traffic.. namly a coach… when I opened my eyes I could read the tyre PSI the witnesses told the police they saw me stop and move backwards.. like some grabbed my legs and pulled me back.. the only prob was I was slidding across the tar and my legs where in the air and no one was standing there…. thats just one and actually the least of all of my experiences.. they get weirder from here.. lol..
Just remember when people look at you funny or you get a bashing over what you know to be true .. it takes all sorts to make the world go round and it would be a boring place if everyone agreed with everyone else…

        • Taylor Blue says:

I had an incident on a bike too…this is when I first started to believe…I used to bike alot in the country…like 8 miles a day and there would always be dogs chasing after me… this time though the owner was walking her St Bernard and Black Lab. While the Black Lab ran beside me but the St Bernard was after my ankles.

I was screaming at the top of my lungs to get help and for the lady to call off her dog but she wouldn’t, I was looking down at my ankle and as the dog went to chomp on it someone pushed me from behind…it was like a jolt…(this couldn’t have been me because i was biking at the same speed the whole time) … I was saved for sure!

I am not answering about his gender…I called him a him…you refuse to even comment on the whole bke incident…do I have proof…how would I get it, whip out a camera while it happened. If you need to see everything that happened that sure is a pitiful life you have. There can’t always be visual proof that it happened. How do I know you are even alive Urban. Because you write, because you have pictures of yourself? How do I believe you are who you say you are? Because you say? Well, that’s not proof enough for me….See how silly that sounds???

well I exist becasue I say I do and also other people on here know me so can confirm my existence. you see.

          first hand evidence
          second hand evidence

          primary and secondary

          its easy really

the bike thing is your word alone and nobody else can verify it. at all. so its unfounded.

as for me having a pitiful life…………. you believe in things that don’t exist- which means on some level you are refusing to face reality. thats pitiful.

        • Taylor Blue says:

I bet you never believed in Santa Clause did you, so just because YOU say that these things don’t exist I am supposed to stop believing. I do have proof…my word…which is all really anyone has, I have people that have been around when things have happened, just like you say people can confirm you are alive. About the bike, the dog went at my ankle and because of the push missed. I’m sure the owner could have confirmed this if her nose wasn’t so high in the air to help me to begin with. You make no sense…you are just trying to make yourself better because you refuse to even listen to other’s side of the story.

I’m listening and reading but ultimately you prove nothing. I have obviously struck a nerve. if you really believed and weren’t just making it up for attention then why would my opinion bother you? it wouldn’t.

As for Santa Claus- of course I believed in him until I found out it was made up. No harm done. You are comparing the invented good saint story later adopted and promoted by coca cola for a little time with your complete belief in ghosts. santa claus as a concept and character exists. ghosts don’t.

be right back a headless knight has just come riding past on horseback- I think he wants a glass of water.

  12. What a wonderful debates going on here so I am going to ask a question,

“If there is a reality show about ghost hunting (in Malaysia, there is a show called Seekers) and you are invited along to be one of the lab’s white mice, would you go along or simply refuse because you don’t believe in such thing and find it wasting time?”

  13. Urban Pagan says:

I am open to the possiblity of it however my experience and rational mind means I currently don’t believe.

I would be willing to see it and willing to go on a show about it- however I would need PROOF- not one person who believes telling me its true.

  14. Urban Pagan says:

people saying it hapened is not the same as it happening

    show me the proof

    show me the footage

    there is none. why?

    • Taylor Blue says:

So when I pushed on the bike I am supposed to have proof? How about the proof that I still have my ankle?? You can’t always live life by always wanting to see the proof. You seem like you would say that it wasn’t true anyways…and that it was doctored. There is a great ghost hunting show they have here that comes from England, they are crazy and crazy stuff happens on that show…YOu need to watch it. I’ll see when I have time to look it up…..and tell you the name…

i refuse to listen to your points asyou state nonsense as facts and when asked to backup your facts erm you have none. why should I take your word as fact???

I have asked for proof. you have none. you tell me about most haunted as ‘evidence’. evidence which is widely accepted to be a hoax.

I will ask again- how could you determine the gender of something that wasn’t there? you’ve not answered. why? because its make believe. its a cry for help its attention seeking to make up for things that you may be lacking- like kids with imaginary friends.

as for my style being ‘cute or not- your opinion is of no consequence and to attempt to critique me as a diversion from the fact your spouting rubbish is obvious for all to see.

        shame eh

        • Mike says:

Interesting debate, if a bit emotional! But that’s fine.

          A number of thoughts:

Don’t rely on common-sense - it’s based on observations throughout your life and therefore your common-sense is a flawed measuring stick as you can only witness things from your vantage point. So for example, when I did Quantum physics I was taught you have to chuck “common-sense” out of the window in order to understand it, because it is counter intuative to commen sense - i.e time is relative, etc

So that leaves people having to have faith in something in order to understand and operate in the world around them.

          They can either:

          Believe in their common-sense
Believe in various stuff like ghosts, new age thinking etc
          Believe in some deity
          Believe there is no deity

          etc

So people have to believe something. No-one decides to believe a lie, people make they best call on what to believe. Even you Urban have a belief system. Taylor- Blue has hers. As does AC etc.

You can’t prove everthing by facts and data, even scientists take a leap of faith in believing their models are the best most likely ones. It’s a game of uncertainies in a strange and complex world.

By defintion, once you choose a system of beliefs you believe the others are flawed in some way. Otherwise you would adopt them as well. But people need to show respect for others beliefs and for the person who believes them.

Taylor-Blue can’t prove by facts that there are ghosts, any more than I could prove to you that the Big bang model is right. She just believes, based on her observations and life, that they do. She may be right, she may be wrong. It is a western mind trap that we often are unaware of because we are in that says we must prove everthing. Such thinking is alien to may cultures.

As long as we dont fall into the traps that:

          Everything is true
          Attacking other belief systems
Everything is painted in black and white

          then people generally get by.

          nicely put….
you got me thinking of Cosmology and the new rule….. 4% mass we can see, 20+% dark matter we cant see, test, find or show, and the rest is dark energy which we know must exist because the maths says so with the universe increase in speed as it expands instead of slowing…. 96% of science in this feild is a leap of faith…
          Love it…

        • Urban Pagan says:

erm ac I’m no maths genius but that equals 120%.

          mike

          I disagree

I base my decisions and beliefs on rational thought and probability. not on fantasy. fantasy has little basis in reality as it is made up. it can also change its model to suit.

but simple statements like ‘orbs’ can be explained with rational thought. When this is done however ‘believers’ simply ignore it as opposed to coming back with a counter arguement.

I also asked TB how she KNEW the gender of her ghost. She came back with no response. Why? Because how could she know the gender of something which she doesn’t know exists. She can’t.

the bottom line is this- if you present something extraordinary as fact then the onus is on the person making the claim to prove that claim is legitimate. simply saying ‘its right because I say it is not enough’. However, as with crop circles, as with UFO’s always appearing at night near military installations, as with chakra’s, as with reiki healing, as with astrology, as with psychics, as with alternative healing, as with reflexology we are expected to believe with no proof. Why? If there was any truth in these things being paranormal wouldn’t it make sense to prove it once and for all and end the debate. and yet this is never done? why? well either they refuse to prove it or they simply can’t.

        • aussiecynic says:

how did 4+20 + the diference make 120%…
          ?????
          24 + x = 100 therefore x = 76

          sorry mate
I do agree that the person making the claim can have the responsibilty of proof… but in many instances the proof is only available through the experience of the person making the claim…
you could tell me you saw a Mini Minor driving past you at what you thought was 250km/p I can say prove it… you cant because you only have the evidence you saw.. the same goes for this…
oh and for the record UFO are real… in so much that they are Unidentified, they are flying and they are Objects… the issue is not that they exist or not it is whether they occupied by little green men…. or military personel or some other means… to say UFO’s dont exist is to deny the evidence…
Gosh I look forward to subjects you sink your teeth into… I really enjoy our discussions… gets the grey matter working…

        • Urban Pagan says:

but if I made the claim AC you could easily find out that the said car cannot go that quick so my claims would be easy to question.

its all interesting stuff no doubt. enjoy it myself being honest.

the mini we had possible would do 200km.. hubby did it up as a hill climber and reckoned it would do 200 km/h…. but thats the thing… I cant prove it because we no longer have the car…
and if you saw a mini doing this regardless of the manufacterers rule book… you still saw it… thats the point…

        • Mike says:

You disagree with what Urban? (re what I said)

          Anyway: rational thought & probability?

Quantum probability says there is a mathematical chance that as you walk through a door it will deflect you slightly, even if you don’t touch it. That’s just one I can recal - there’s plenty of weird stuff that it predicts that would sound silly.

Rational thought: Rational thought is based on your belief system and your perceptions. It is not a belief in itself. What exactly do you mean?

Mikes last blog post..What authority figure?

        • Urban Pagan says:

so a belief in rational thought is not a belief system? how so??

the works of ayn rand for example could be followed as a system as could any philopher. why is it not a belief system?

        • Mike says:

You miss the meaning of my question - which you haven’t answered - or my other one in my comment!

To even start having rational thoughts and thinking in a logical way you have to have something to work with. Something you believe to be true. Otherwise you’re working with air.

So I can think rationally based on the fact I believe little green men live in my sofa that need feeding mars bars. A rational thought process would be: It’s eleven o’clock, I last fed them 3 hours ago (which unknown to me the cat ate) so I will get some more mars bars for them. The rational process: They will be hungry therefore I will feed them.

Now the belief is wrong, but the processing is rational. So all you are saying is that you believe it is possible to think through things sequentially or logically.

And the probabilty that you will read this comment right at this moment, is so high - in that the probability that you would even come into being - is so high, that rational thought based on probability would say you really shouldn’t exist.

        • Mike says:

heh heh tired! When I said

“And the probabilty that you will read this comment right at this moment, is so high”

          I of course meant

“And the probabilty that you will read this comment right at this moment, is so LOW - in that the probability that you would even come into being - is so LOW, that rational thought based on probability would say you really shouldn’t exist.”

however we are also easily the most advanced and evolved life form on the planet and if there was an explanation that these things existed we would be most likely to have it- we don’t. we can put a man in space. we can clone life forms but we can’t explain or prove the existence of something that is suppoisedly around us all the time. why is that?

  19. Urban Pagan says:

also a few questions for the ghost claimers…….

why do ghosts clothing survive to the next life? ie knights in armour, monks etc

why when a headless ghost is seen is it reflected in its cause of death- ie its headless.

why do ghosts appear in ghostly circumstances? why not in the day? why would they be bothered about being spotted?

I believe adults who claim ghosts are simply replacing imaginary fantasy friends they had as kids and replacing them with something interesting to appear special, mytical, interesting, alive.

  21. Urban Pagan says:

    hmmmmmmmmmmmmm

    quid pro quo

your gender????? tough to tell as a certain ambiguity in your posts.

I am clearly male. The lack of worrying about the size of my arse, if a mouse is near me and a lack of any of the supersititious nonsense that pervades lots of the new age thought here should tell you that…

    • This is a Dictatorship. I am The Rule. says:

      Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

If you choose not to answer, then you are being coy, which is a female trait… So, are you really male?

My Gender? You remind me of Edward when he asks Viviane, “what’s your name”. She goes, “what would you like it to be?”

Swap ‘gender’ for ‘name’ and you and I could be starring in the movie lol

While you’re writing your resume, here’s a couple more questions for you:

Do you still live with your mama?

What’s your real name? Don’t answer Viviane style. Remember, you’re supposed to be Edward.

Get cracking on that resume. Now.

  22. Urban Pagan says:

not being coy at all just wary off giving my information to someone who may not be an attractive female- I don’t go near ugly women at all and if you were an ugly woman this would probably cause you to roll a seven. if you are a bloke hmmmmm I dunno, I’d tell you to mind your own business.

I think you are female however and American. your use of the word resume would suggest that. also the use of the word mama. My real name? for you, at this point in time my name is as I post. your writing style appears familiar however which is why I am viewing this with suspicion. And your avoidance of the question would lead me to believe that you may be a person masking their gender for some reason- possibly a man trying to appear as a woman.

interesting, sort of. but how long will you hold my interest? if at all?

    • Taylor Blue says:

Surprised you even bothered at all to answer Urban….Why do you even come here? To make sure that no one has a good post or is it just mine?

Taylor Blues last blog post..Christian Bale’s The Dark Knight Photocall Pictures

“If at all?” I think we’re doing pretty well so far wouldn’t you say? :p

If I’m male or female? Ugly or beautiful? Familiar or unfamiliar? For here and now, I’m the chick your great grand mama warned you about. Back when you were a toddler stumbling around naked, with only your diapers on. Do you still indulge in such wanton behaviour? :p

      • Urban Pagan says:

my great grand mama was a mute and could only talk through a series of diagrams. the only ‘chick’ she warned me off was that served up by military leader colonel saunders.

ok so- US woman living in dubai………………..

the nappies I don’t bother with anymore. not since the incident. don’t want to go on about it but one simple misunderstanding. My interest is slightly piqued. But only slightly. I can’t help thinking your really the loon in silence of the lambs who keeps the girl in the pit.

LOL!! As long as you make me laugh, you’d have got mine!

I’m a bit of everything really. If only I didn’t get spammed every time I get creative, I’d have showed you! :p

But yes, Loon and Court Jester have prominent representation lol

And pat (s)he comes, like the catastrophe of the old comedy! - I excel at being The Fool ;)

I think you made the lil boy cry. You know, Blue Collar. He is a bit sensitive it seems. Is everyone else like this here?

BTW, you’re turning the tables - it’s your resume that’s in question. Not mine. I have ruled.

        • Urban Pagan says:

I believe taylor blue is a girl.

you I am not sure about here at all. your an enigma.

now what was the question- quid pro quo-

        • This is a Dictatorship. I am The Rule. says:

The Enigma’s attention span is short. The interest focus even less. More so in cybersapce.

You gotta make hay while the sun shines. Forgetting what should go in your resume isn’t going to get you there.

          Get cracking now.

Gary is a nice name btw. Studley lovebone III would be a bit of a mouthful. Would Gary be short for Garence or Gareth? I saw a Gareth on the site. Is he you or you he?

        • Urban Pagan says:

          HMMMMMMM garence

          ok reveal who you are????

        • This is a dictatorship. I am The Rule. says:

Don’t be so impatient Stud. I am an enigma, remember? One small revelation at a time! It’s my Way or the highway! That is, if I don’t get bored half way in the process and leave myself!

However, I see you’re struggling not having a name to fantasise about before you fall asleep. So, for you I will be…. hmmm…. Scarlett O’Hara! Just for you. Everyone else can call me Mr. Dictator. Or Rhett Butler.

        • Urban Pagan says:

I am convinced you used to post her under a previous guise. And I think I know who
