Oh there you go again Pagan resorting to thorns, to scorn and abuse rather than offer a substantial response...
you should know me better than to resort to insults however just to put you right on a few facts...
I am by no means interested in the conservative right anything... the point was to show the corrilation between the activities you have said have nothing to do with genre, and the actual facts that there is a connection.
Whether racism is an issue in the US is neither here nor there as far I am concerned that is a seperate issue all together and one which I would than happy to discuss with you at some length.. you might even be in for a few surprises...
The fact that so many drug dealers get away with the crimes is more to do with the legal system than anything else...
If as you say so many rappers are not involved in criminal activities (and I will admit some are not such as Salt - n - Pepa) then why do they see the need to fabricate a criminal record:
    Akon Fabricated Criminal Record, Jail Time?
    ...Akon's ad nauseum claims about his criminal career and resulting prison time have been, to an overwhelming extent, exaggerated, embellished, or wholly fabricated, an investigation by The Smoking Gun has revealed. Police, court, and corrections records reveal that the entertainer has created a fictionalized backstory that serves as the narrative anchor for his recorded tales of isolation, violence, woe, and regret. Akon has overdubbed his biography with the kind of grit and menace that he apparently believes music consumers desire from their hip-hop stars.
While the performer's rap sheet does include a half-dozen arrests, Akon has only been convicted of one felony, for gun possession. That 1998 New Jersey case ended with a guilty plea, for which the singer was sentenced to three years probation. Another 1998 bust, this one in suburban Atlanta, has been seized upon by Akon and transformed into the big case that purportedly sent him to prison (thanks to his snitching cohorts) for three fight-filled years. In reality, Akon was arrested for possession of a single stolen BMW and held in the DeKalb County jail for several months before prosecutors dropped all charges against him.
So there was no conviction. There was no prison term between 1999 and 2002. And he was never "facing 75 years," as the singer claimed in one videotaped interview.
Akon's invented tales appear to be part of a cynical marketing plan, but one that has met with remarkable success...

Queen Latifah can perhaps owe her relatively crime free life to the fact of her mother being a school teacher and her father being a police officer, perhaps her parents werent apart of the culture so many of these people are..
In college, she adopted the name Queen Latifah and hooked up with Afrika Bambaataa's Native Tongues collective, which sought to bring a more positive, Afrocentric consciousness to hip-hop. Her Muslim cousin gave her the nickname Latifah -- an Arabic word meaning "delicate" or "sensitive" -- when she was eight.
Salt n Pepa whom I dont mind for the record, also chose to avoid the lifestyle and one I think it is Pepa is actually living with her husband and children in a very christian town in American....
As far as my opinion being racist that is really a low blow even for you Pagan... and those who actually know me would slap you so hard for even thinking it...
what I think of Aboriginees in any way shape or form do not have to be discussed here on this forum nor deffended in anyway.. however I am more than happy at a later date.. you will once again be surprised..
so if you have an arguement relevant please continue but if you can only resort to mud slinging and name calling then I am not buying into it... I actually thought you where better than that...

breathtaking ignorance and scaremongering

so de la soul are gangsters?
salt and pepa?
queen latifah?

you are clearly reading and believing whatever the conservative far right in the us tells you

shame really

a question- why aren't all these drug dealing rappers locked up- you know so much about their activities yet they appear to get away with it

this destructive type of LAZY journalism is just another eg of the racism in US SOCIETY- as the phrase goes- in the US a white man imports the guns and sells them no crime. a rapper says the word guns and gets taken to court

are you equally prejudiced against aborigines?

Originating in the Southern rap mecca Houston, South Park Mexican (SPM) slowly built up his own personally run record label, Dope House Records, for years before eventually signing a distribution deal with Universal Records. With the promising deal in place, SPM stood on the verge of extending his reach outside of the South and becoming one of the first Mexican-American rappers to attain national success. He unfortunately never fulfilled his promise. First, his releases for Universal failed to top the charts during the early 2000s, and then he went to prison in June 2002 after a Houston jury convicted him of sexually assaulting a nine-year-old girl.
He is such a guy.. NOT..

    * Birthplace: Brooklyn, New York
    * Best Known As: The controversial female rapper of "No Time"

Name at birth: Kimberly Denise Jones

One of the few female stars in hardcore rap, Lil' Kim is known just as much for her tangles with the law, censors, and fashion police. She got her start with the help of Notorious B.I.G. and rappers Junior M.A.F.I.A.. She went solo in 1996 with the album Hard Core, which included the rap hit "No Time," a duet with Sean "Puffy" Combs. She quickly grew notorious for her sexually explicit lyrics and revealing clothes, and the almost-breast-baring outfit she wore to the 1999 MTV Video Awards gave her new fame. In 2005 she was convicted of lying to a federal grand jury about a 2001 shooting outside a Manhattan radio station. She was fined $50,000 and served 10 months in federal prison as inmate 56198-054 before being released in July of 2006.

Mac, or also known as Da' Camouflage Assassin (born McKinley J. Phipps Jr. on July 30, 1977), is a rapper from New Orleans' Third Ward, and would grow to be one of the most critically acclaimed on Master P.'s No Limit Records, behind Mystikal, both as a solo rapper and as a member of the 504 Boyz rap group.
On September 21, 2001 Mac was convicted of manslaughter charges for the death of 22-year-old Barron C. Victor Jr. Though Mac maintains his claim of innocence, he is currently serving a 30 year prison term. Mac recently released an album called Mac The Lost Tapes on his myspace website(Mac Uptown 3rd Ward New Orleans, Louisiana)in September of 2007.

Biography
Originally one of the leading rappers on Master P's No Limit record label, Mystikal quickly evolved beyond the label's clichéd thug trappings and found himself one of the Dirty South's most recognized rappers, alongside Juvenile. Like No Limit itself, Mystikal is a New Orleans native.On January 16, 2004, Mystikal was sentenced to six years in prison after pleading guilty to forcing his hairstylist to perform sex acts. He also admitted to extortion. The rapper and two bodyguards forced the woman to perform oral sex, after they accused her of stealing $80,000 in checks. Mystikal initially denied the assault, but confessed after a videotape of the crime was found at his home. Bodyguards Leland "Pokie" Ellis and Vercy "V" Carter also pled guilty to sexual battery.[2]

In August 2005, while incarcerated on the state sexual battery and extortion charges, Mystikal was charged federally with two misdemeanor counts of failing to file tax returns for 1998 and 1999. On January 12, 2006, he was convicted in federal court of the tax offenses, but was allowed to serve the one year federal sentence concurrent with his six year state sentence.[3]

Mystikal is currently incarcerated at Louisiana's Elayn Hunt Correctional Center, which is located in St. Gabriel, Louisiana. His assigned prison number is 00469659. On January 19, 2006, Mystikal was denied parole at a parole board hearing. [3]

On January 11, 2007, Mystikal was released from custody on the federal misdemeanor tax convictions (as his one-year sentence had expired), but he remains in custody on the 6-year sentence for the Louisiana state felony convictions.[1]

Biography
The Fugees translated an intriguing blend of jazz-rap, R&B, and reggae into huge success during the mid-'90s, when the trio's sophomore album The Score hit number one on the pop charts and sold over five million copies. The trio formed in the late '80s in the New Jersey area, where Lauryn Hill and Prakazrel Michel ("Pras") attended a local high school and began working together. Michel's cousin Wyclef Jean ("Clef") joined the group (then called the Tranzlator Crew), and the trio signed to Ruffhouse/Columbia in 1993.
John Forté was an early member, rapping and drum programming on two of The Score's tracks; Forté however is currently serving a 14-year prison sentence for cocaine trafficking.

NOT..
* Birthplace: Brooklyn, New York
* Best Known As: The controversial female rapper of “No Time”

Name at birth: Kimberly Denise Jones

One of the few female stars in hardcore rap, Lil’ Kim is known just as much for her tangles with the law, censors, and fashion police. She got her start with the help of Notorious B.I.G. and rappers Junior M.A.F.I.A.. She went solo in 1996 with the album Hard Core, which included the rap hit “No Time,” a duet with Sean “Puffy” Combs.

Mac, or also known as Da’ Camouflage Assassin (born McKinley J. Phipps Jr. on July 30, 1977), is a rapper from New Orleans’ Third Ward, and would grow to be one of the most critically acclaimed on Master P.’s No Limit Records, behind Mystikal, both as a solo rapper and as a member of the 504 Boyz rap group.

    * Genre: Rap
* Active: ’90s, 2000s

Biography
Originally one of the leading rappers on Master P’s No Limit record label, Mystikal quickly evolved beyond the label’s clichéd thug trappings and found himself one of the Dirty South’s most recognized rappers, alongside Juvenile. Bodyguards Leland “Pokie” Ellis and Vercy “V” Carter also pled guilty to sexual battery.[2]

Mystikal is currently incarcerated at Louisiana’s Elayn Hunt Correctional Center, which is located in St.

The trio formed in the late ’80s in the New Jersey area, where Lauryn Hill and Prakazrel Michel (”Pras”) attended a local high school and began working together. Michel’s cousin Wyclef Jean (”Clef”) joined the group (then called the Tranzlator Crew), and the trio signed to Ruffhouse/Columbia in 1993.
John Forté was an early member, rapping and drum programming on two of The Score’s tracks; Forté however is currently serving a 14-year prison sentence for cocaine trafficking.
