Go Find the sock collectors

May 6th, 2008 by A/C

Early this Morning as I lay in bed listening to the Radio, a topic of discussion came up. It was fun and perhaps even a little silly but interesting.

The Question was (remember this is at 4am)

What happens to socks?

socks1.jpg

You see you put one pair of socks, thats 2 socks, in the washing machine, but more often than not you can only retrieve 1 sock when you empty the machine.

Where the heck is the second?

Several reasons for this were given:

The Washing eats them, the fall down the between the spinner and the casing, the Borrowers remove them, they walk away etc… my personal favourite was they turn into wire coat hanger.

Then it was asked what other things vanish without a trace from your home? and the list grew. It went from Socks to include the following: vegetable peelers, phillips head screw drivers (the ones with the cross on the end), sissors, and the bane of my life Pens. This appears to be an Australian wide epedemi and I wish to see if it is a globel one. can this problem reach plague proportions. Or is there something more synister at work?

So what do you loose at your place, and your thoughts of where they go?

This subject requires serious investigation and is scientifcally proven as fact, they do just vanish if only science could harness this power and use it for good rather than irritation, think of how much simplier our lives would be…

Hello Aussie
Here is a tip
Always buy identical socks so that you just pick any two socks

I know plenty of women who do this with their hubbies sock….
I tried it with kids but one is always to short to match …
My problem is the pens vanishing….. whats up with that?

I love this post. I’ve actually never come up short with my socks…amazing. However, I’ve come up short with my husband’s socks. I love the quilt. Maybe, we should all start a fashion statement and just wear unmatching socks!!!

The thing with the pens…I often feel like a hoarder. I can’t find a pen, can’t find a pen, get another one. Then, all of a sudden they appear all at one time in the same place…I swear I looked there!! Or did I? My secretary used to make fun of me all the time. Oh, and used to make fun of my needing pens all the time.

but its true somethingJust…
its normally the hubby’s socks and the kids that go on a holiday…
but the pens it has to be a conspiracy..
you see they gather in these huge groups in a draw etc.. and then as you soon as you on the phone and need one they scarper.. disappear send you running around the place looking for a new one.. then when you lest expect it… there they are again gathered in the same place you saw them last time….
It freaky truly it is…. ;)

Who knows, one of life’s unsolved mysteries, happened to me the other day with my gym socks.

And hair bobbles, they always go missing.

And hair grips, I actually said once that hair grips must be one of the most lucrative markets out there because they always go feckin missing.

socks..one thing that is very irritating, my feet will be very hot if I wear them during the day at work, thus now I am living a sock-free life during the day and only wear socks when it is very cold..I mean very very very cold..but it is rare..
