GO! Do 5 Different Things Today - Because you CAN!

April 19th, 2008 by arvind

Do something today because you can!

Arvind here planning to do a few things differently today!

Do you always do the same things day in and day out?

Or do you things the same way every day?

Are you ready to be “adventurous” and do 5 things differently today?

Here are 5 things that I have already done different today - because I can!

1. Jumped out of bed from the left hand side rather than the right.
2. I had ice cream for breakfast :-)
3. I am using the mouse for my computer with my left hand rather than right.
4. I deleted all the emails in my in-box without looking at them and worrying about anything important being deleted.
5. I flicked through a tabloid newspaper and even read a few of the celebrity gossip stories about who is supposedly bonking whom!

The point is that so many of us go through life with the same old routine and behaviours established years ago. But by taking a simple new approach we can all bring more variety, adventure and fun in our lives. These new things do not have to be major or life changing - just simple things as listed above.

So what 5 things will YOU differently today - because you can?!

Do share…

Hi Arvind,i’m with you on this,i read years ago that if you break routines, like looking at different things on your daily drive to work,it adds years to your life….or something like that. Variety is the spice of life eh!

Right, thanks for the advice i’m off to do the following…

1. Shave with my eyes closed.
2. Not pay for my weekly “big shop”
3. Drive the wrong way down the by-pass,in next door’s car.
4. Streak at the local footy match
5. Put all the money i’ve saved for the wedding on Calzaghe to win on points tonight.

I’ll let you know how i get on.

Most days are different for me, China is anything but routine.
I spend a fair amount of time trying to get routine, trouble is in Asia in general you always see something or have some event that is unique/crazy and either makes you laugh, cringe or wince.

Yes, doing different things every each day really is good for variation and creativity. Life will not be dull. And more things will be learned along the way. It helps in the thinking process too, I believe. Great idea to practice and be discipline with.

Like the post at your site, funnily enough I was trying to do some cost saving ideas just last week in work and had tasked half of the available CAD engineers to examine ways to reduce mass but keep the same surface area on some plastic mouldings we make. Will point a few of them to your site, great posts.
Welcome to flowers.

Mike,

Wow, this was a difficult one for me. I’m not the adventurous type and I’ve been sitting here for several minutes staring at this reply box without any changes coming to mind……

Having started today by getting out of the bed from the left hand side rather than the right hand side, I spent the rest of the day as a Tiger!!!

IKEA had a big 21st birthday celebration today in all their UK to celebrate their 21 years of business in the UK. And they had 21% off everything in the store.

I went along to check out the store and went prepard for the large crowds and long checkout queues. It was however a really pleasant day with a party atmosphere.

They had some facepainters for kids and the sign said you had to be 3 and over to have your face painted for free.

I said that since I was over 3, I was surely eligible – and I had my face painted as a Tiger!

The rest of the day was amazing day as I amused a lot of kids and bemused countless adults who didn’t know whether to smile, snigger, ignore me or look away.

So I chose to be a Tiger for the day - because I can!

What animal would you be if you had a choice?

I can sense another post coming up :-)
