April 8th, 2008 by Jim

Thanks to Dave in Dubai for scanning this flower promotion he found in a Dubai starbucks:

So, flowers need coffee and we need to write to starbucks with the patent of our brand :-)

How do you take yours, how often and what type? Do tell - we’ll respond latte or was that later?

Are Dave in Dubai and Dubai Dave one and the same? If so tell him to get back on his PC and visit the site.

David S here. Twas I who gave Jim the Starbucks’ promotion point of sale material.

I am not to be confused with dubaidave (last seen heading to the Lake District?)

I would like to be able to visit more frequently, but have had sh!tloads of stuff workwise of late, and being self employed it kind of dominates everything. But I will be back in big and little doses, time permitting.

I use the grounds out of my coffee machine in my plants too. In a few bars in Changchun they use them in the ash trays as it seems to absorb the stale ash smell.

As for coffee preference - stong espresso with a touch of milk although there is a local Ginseng version thats quite tasty.

In a couple of weeks I’ll be back in Bali where you can pick, roast, grind and then drink your own coffee at a few of the plantations there. A very nice relaxing afternoon all in all.

Not really a coffee shop fan but if I am forced to go for a meeting then I’ll have a skinny Americano.

Where is everyone by the way?

Erm, well I ask for it and I always get something.

Perhaps it’s just a coffee, lol.

I gave up coffee and tea long time ago - I used to be hyper then but have calmed down now :-)

I now stick to water or herbal teas etc.

Understand what you mean completely Arvind. I have to be careful how much coffee or tea I drink. More than 2 cups a day or drinking it consistently over the course of a week and it wreaks havoc with my mind.

Guess who I bumped into in LLoyds Bank Dubai, Bo Snr?

After 22 years….

Amanda Scar - I well remember your parties with the likes of this tune blasting out as others closed their windows in defiance…

Thanks for the memories Bill n Tress.

Good stuff Bill,
If you get the time check out a good friend of mine, Guthrie Govan. Guitarist of the year in the UK more than once when he was younger as far as I can remember. Loads of clips on youtube all worth a listen.

http://youtube.com/watch?v=2ErrWacVEks&feature=related

This clip has him playing with his fusion band, Zac on sax, Seth (his brother) on bass and a guy called Pete on drums - they play every Thursday night in the basement club in Chelmsford - niiiiiiice.

Like kellie and Zack, coffee isn’t my thing at all. Even the smell of it hurts my stomach. (Mental thing?) Herbal teas for me all the way. (c)

On my blog, 40 Something and Mean, I have what I call “Tea Bag Tag Time.” On those postings, I take the quote from the tea bag in my mug and analyze it. It’s one of my favorite postings to do. :)
