GO! Smell the Grand National winner!
April 5th, 2008 by JimFlowers are being smelled at the 2008 Grand National by joint 7-1 fave and winner - Comply or die. Ridden by Timmy Murphy and trained by David Pipe, Comply and die was the winner of the 161st Grand National held at Aintree Liverpool, England by four lengths.
He took the honours at ahead of King Johns Castle, Snowy Morning and Slim Pickings. Just click here or either of the pictures for some of the action.
Just one week after the Dubai world cup where Curlin romped home in the Worlds richest horse race. We missed the real trackside action in Dubai as gambling is forbidden which is often the highlight of the racing. So share your each way bets here about the FORS n AGAINSTS of gambling.

Gambling ? Don’t agree with it .
Which is why I getting rid of all my winnings ( I bet on Comply or Die at 10 to 1 ) at the bar! Free drinks everyone.

I do hope those poor little horses weren’t forced to take part in this race……. pah!
I bet once a year and that’s on a horse in the Grand National. It’s a sort of old family tradition to back a horse in the National. I remember when my dear late mother’s horse Foinavon won at 200/1! (She didn’t own the horse - she just backed it
)
And my luck continues more or less the same after all these years — the horse I backed died! Bad luck for the poor oul horse too I suppose.
The other side of that race…..
McKelvey was so badly injured last year the vets wanted to put him down.
McKelvey was the third horse to die during this year’s meet.
British charity Animal Aid said 38 horses had died during the three-day meet since 1997, including 11 during the Grand National race itself.
I’ll leave it for others to comment on that.
I think I’ll stop betting — maybe I’m bad luck for the horses.

200-1 - AWESOME Rashers, awesome!
Gambling is up to the person. Depends how you look at it. If the person gambling is betting money he/she can easily afford to then there is no issue. If they are betting the food or mortgage money then there is a major issue. If the betting is done for fun now and again then no worries, if its done every day as a matter of necessity then again there is a problem.
Many people think they don’t gamble as they don’t go to the bookies, yet fruit machiens in bars, the national lottery, bingo, etc can all be classed as gambling.
So I think, in summary if its a small stakes bit of fun now and again then no worries, large stakes bet often then there’s a problem.
Personally I’d rather peel my eyes and then dip them in salt than watch, bet or attend horse racing. Frankly it bores me stupid watching a bunch of midgets dressed like drag queens whip the backside of some nag. I mean come on;
brown horse, brown horse, brown horse, followed by a white one, wait its still the brown horse going into the final furlong, white one making a move (?) on the outside but its still a brown horse, brown horse followed by a white one, and at the finish the winner is a brown horse by a nose from the white one - rivetting, I don’t think. Isuppose it keeps us in glue though.
