GO! Check out a Dog’s Life!

February 11th, 2008 by arvind

It's a dog's life!

Arvind here, fresh from another amazing Spring Day in Regents Park, London.

Yesterday, I came across this couple who were literally taking their dog, Dino, for a ride around the park.

Dino the huskey dog is now 15, which apparently makes him over 90 in human years! Suffering from arthritic knees, he now gets treated like a king every day.

What’s your favourite tale of looking after or “spoiling” a pet animal?

And what would you like your life to be like when you are 90!?

Will YOU be living like a King/Queen?

Sorry - I thought the whole point of the huskey was that it pulled the cart the humans were in????

Bet it would soon jump up if you waved a cat in its face - I’ll carry one around with me from now on when I visit the park in case I come across any similar pooch’s.

LOL Jonathan!

The Huskey is well past its “sell by date”, hence the need for a cart.

The friendly couple said that they usually visited Regents Park on Sundays, so do take a cat with you next weekend :-)

I am a cat lover. In no way am I going to advocate inter-species scrapping.

Having my dogs, cats, chooks, the goats gone to a new home… I have plenty of animal stories…
How ever back to the dogs, they go where we go, they are family members as opposed to pets, however they do know they place in the food chain…..
It is funny that once you establish who is the Alpha Male and Female with in group the Animals see you has their pack or pride…
Buster is Hubby best mate next to me, he looks to him for instruction and permission… all the female creatures come to me when they need something girly…
I love the photo, My dog before Buster was Patch he was a wolfhound cross labrador big fellow, I had him from when he was 5 weeks old, he was 17yrs when he went….
He had cateracs, arthritis in his joints and hips, no teeth, and his sense of smell was gone…. hubby would walk him to the corner which was 2 houses away then patch would have to rest for ten minutes for the return trip, or hubby would have to carry him home… the poor bugger he would look forward to his daily stroll short as it was… patch was great dog and lovely old fellow reminded everyone of a really old man, he pasted away in is sleep…
great post Arvind

Patch sounds like quite a character AC!

The dog I saw Dino is also just like a family member for the couple. And he too needs to be carried when he can’t walk anymore :-(

Patch certainly was a character Arvind… he was parcial to white shirts, so if a ball went the yard none of the kids wearing white T-shirts would go and get, it was so funny….
he was a great dog.. and buster is too, he loves playgrounds and swimming in the river even though he is 9yrs old ..

At 90, hmmm well over any lid life crisis by then, warming up of a hologram message from King William by then and ready to bring out our 10th book..

GO! Smell like mothballs.

Hey come, 50 is the new 30, 70 the new 50, 90 the…well you know….old age won’t disgust you when you’re sat there in the chair, where we’re all headed…

Bring on 120th birthday -about 25% done in our lives to date.

Tell yourself 50% there at 30 odd and so it will be.

Keep young.

Dont smell of cabbage.

Aaargh!! You mean I would still be sitting on a shelf at 100(with no guarantee even that I’d have found my tiny tortoise by then)??!!! That’s all the motivation I need to wish to go at half that age ha! ;)

Hum.. btw, it’s not Bridget who does the chasing mate! You never read my diary eh?!!

Great idea Jim, lets use that photo for a future caption competition.

Something like FREE Flowers for the best caption for what the dog is thinking.

Sitting on my favourite stool in the corner of a pub with a half pint of stout and whiskey chaser - in walks my lad with his girlfriend, tries not to see me, and says ‘oh no it’s my dad and he’s wet himself again’ - happy days

I have some issues with my health at this very young age, so reaching 90 alone would be a true achievement for me. Only a few people reach that age nowadays.

as per this doggie… It’s really nice to see people who genuinely care about their pets.
