GO! Use Affirmations

Posted on February 1st, 2008 by angesbiz

Today is my first official day without kids since the Christmas break! Yippee!!! So here I am… Ange that is… to let you in on a little secret that has helped me overcome some barriers and past beliefs.

Visual Poetry - ImageChef.com

I have been thinking lately that one of the things that has helped me the most with getting to where I am today, that is to say that I am at home working for myself, is that when I first started taking notice of all these lessons in personal development, affirmations is one of the best tools to have with helping to me to achieve goals.

When you use words like “I can’t afford it,” it’s usually an idea problem most of the time that we are conditioned into believing rather than something specific like a money problem. You will also find the “100 People Story” there.

When you have read the article, come back and let me know if you use affirmations and how they have helped you. If you don’t already, would you consider writing some up to use for yourself and what you want to achieve?

Oh Ange I am so jealous….
I must wait until the 14 February till my little darling goes back to school…… 8 weeks down here over christmas and then one week off for Easter….
We have run out things to do, places to go and money to spend…
Bring on the 6 day school week….. I think I might become a teacher thinking all that paid holiday time as well as standard holiday leave and long sservice….
    AC

    • It’s been heaven…. I can tell you… being a teacher though, you would be around kids all the time!! lolololololololol… 14th of Feb is way too long a break!! Crikey matey… I couldn’t have gone another two weeks.

Read the affirmations around money and see if you can attract some more in ;)

Hi Angr and how freakily well timed is your post?

Only last night I watched ‘the secret’ again and asked for a sign at flowers blog today and there you were!

Thanks. Some think I’m a crackpot believing in creating my own reality.

    • Hey Sarah. Glad I could help. I think it’s a good idea to watch The Secret every so often as it is a good reminder to us that we can get what we want if our thoughts are in alignment with our actions that we take and feel gratitude for that thing we want. Not to worry if people think you’re a crackpot… I get that all the time ;)

        Hi Sarah / Ange

It is indeed a good idea to reconnect with The Secret every now and then.

However, I feel that one thing that The Secret does not cover too well or if at all is the bit about taking ACTION.

It is great to visualise what you want but then you do have to take focussed and inspired action! It is not just about visualising and sitting in a lotus position and then everything comes to you.

Reminds me of this phrase I read a long time ago -”Everything will cometh to one who waiteth as long as one who waiteth worked for what one wanted”

        • Too true… in my original post, I did state that action was also required for these things to come to you. It doesn’t happen just by thinking about it and affirming it. Thanks for bringing that up Arvind. It all helps :)

    Great article Ange.

One of the most useful tools that I have used with my coaching clients is getting them to be aware of the things they say to themselves e.g. about money.

And then getting them to reframe into positive terms. It is amazing how quickly their lives change once they proactively reprogram their small talk. Here are some of the affirmations I have used for wealth creation:-

    - Large amounts of money come to me now
    - I am enough
    - I do enough
    - I have enough
    - I give myself and my business my permission to have unlimited potential
    - I choose to be happy at all times
    - I choose to enjoy every golden moment
    - Every day is my birthday
    - I am prosperous
    - I am wealthy
    - The more money I have the more I can help others
    - Money is good

    • Every day is my birthday too :D I like that one and could use that easily.

Great affirmations Arvind. These are some more:

      - I am grateful that I live in an abundant universe
      - I now release any and all barriers to my financial and personal success
      - I earn, save, spend and invest my money wisely
      - My money creates more money
      - Every thought I have is transformed into abundance

The important thing to remember is to make them feel right for you. There is no point stating an affirmation if you don’t believe it’s possible. It has to be comfortable.

I also have them printed on paper and stuck on desks and walls around the house so that I am reminded of them throughout the day.

      • arvind says:

Yes - they have to FEEL right for you.

What I suggest to clients is to say each affirmation aloud and feel how congruent it is with them.

If it feels right, use them.

If not, find another one more resonant with them.

      • How shall I get my money to make more money? Perhaps I can stuff two dollar bills in a pillow sack with some viagra and play Barry Manilow in the background.

        • funkygirl… you had me ROFLMAO… let me know if it works and perhaps you may want to stuff one hundred dollar bills there if it does ;)

        • Seriously though funkygirl… the way to make your money work for you is by investing it. The easiest thing of course is to put it away into some kind of fund which earns interest. Here in Australia, the interest rates for savings is very minimal… like 1% - 2% in an ordinary account which isn’t very much at all.

Property on the other hand, depending on where you buy, doubles in value every 10 years. So property is as they say “safe as houses” and it also enables you to build equity which then can be used for other investments. If property sounds out of reach, think about investing with family members or using JV’s (joint ventures). Have legal documents drawn up by a professional so you are covered if for some reason, your partner(s) don’t keep up there end of the bargain.

Shares are another great investment long term. There are trading strategies that can be used to bring in monthly cashflow, thereby increasing your income which can be used for investing in other assets.

I am not a financial adviser, these are just some of the ways that I have learned to use to make my money work for me.

    • I’m gonna borrow a few of these Arvind…let’s see how well I allow them to work within my life!

And here are some more affirmations I have used in the past:-

    - I really am very special. I like who I am and feel great about myself.

    - I am continuously improving myself and I get better every day in every way.

    - I like who I am today and the person I am becoming.

    - I am unique ? from the top of my head to the bottom of my feet. In some ways, I may look and act and sound like some others ? but I am unique. I am me.

    - I like how I feel and I like how I think and I like how I like to do things. I approve of me and I approve of who I am.

    - I have many beautiful qualities about me. I have talents and skills and abilities. I even have hidden talents waiting to make them known to me.

    - I am positive. I am confident. I radiate good things. And good people radiate towards me.

    - I am full of life. I love life and I?m glad to be alive. I am a very special person, living at a very special time.

    - I am intelligent. My mind is quick and alert and clever and fun. I think good thoughts and my mind makes things work right for me.

    - I have a lot of energy, enthusiasm and vitality. I am exciting and I really enjoy being me. People appreciate my energy, enthusiasm, and vitality.

    - I like to be around other people and other people like to be around me. People like to hear what I have to say and to know what I think.

    - I smile a lot. I am happy on the inside and I am happy on the outside.

(These affirmations were initially given to my good friend, life-coach Balbir Chagger - thank you :-) )

    • Jim & Em says:

Awesome affirmations - anyone fans of the film ‘ what the bleep do we know?’

We’ll be posting about that soon as well as the secret.

      Ssshhhh.

Creating realities with thought and Quantum physics.

      Yum.

    • Zack says:

Awesome affirmations Arvind. I think it is an awesome idea and great tip to use these every single day. It really does boost your confidence and energy.

I especially like how affirmations are done in present tense rather than future. For example, “I smile a lot” is much better than “I want to smile a lot.”

      Nice post

      • arvind says:

Good point Zack - all affirmations should always be in the present tense for them to be effective and powerful.

Otherwise, in the future tense it wil lbe always be something you will have one day rather than now.

E.g. ” I will have a lot of energy, enthusiasm and vitality” means that this is something you will have in the future i.e. never!

So I had better re-type that in the present right away -

“I have a lot of energy, enthusiasm and vitality”.

        • Zack says:

Thats what I’m talking about. Very nice.

I like how you stated it as if it is “something you will have in the future I.E. NEVER!!!!”

          regards

    • These are great Arvind!! I am going to borrow some too :)

    • dubaidave says:

      Awesome stuff Arvind!

I’ve never paid attention to these things and your list is something else.

      Ta.

  5. I like this post Ange…a good reminder for myself of who I want my “ideas” to reflect through my actions in life.
As for myself some days working through the old “ideas” that run so deep into the core of my being works against these affirmations…for me I learned that i must also act as though they are true…..
For me my actions speak louder then any thoughts I have…true change comes about when thoughts and actions align for the highest possible good!

    • MMorgan… you said…

“true change comes about when thoughts and actions align for the highest possible good!”

Absolutely!! Using affirmations is only a tool which helps us to change our ideas and combined with ACTION, will turn them around to get us onto the path which we seek. Being in a state of gratitude and feeling like we already have that thing or are that person… whether it be money, or being thinner than before, or whatever it is you are seeking will come about by taking the action required to get there. Thanks for sharing!!

  6. I don’t really use affirmations, but I think if it works for you then that’s the main thing…and a good thing.

    • Hi DM… perhaps you could try some and see if change comes about for you. That’s if you want change of course. For me, it’s a way of staying on the path I wish to be on. If things get in the way, challenges that is, I read my affirmations and it changes my whole way of being in an instant! I find at times, especially when I feel overwhelmed by everything I have on my plate, they really do help.

      • arvind says:

Exactly Ange. They really do help in times of being overwhelmed.

A few years ago, I got myself a pack of affirmation cards from Louise Hay who wrote the best seller “You can Heal Your Life”, decades ago before all this quantuam physics stuff and “The Secret” came along.

All her teachings are based around changing our thoughts and we do this via affirmations.

Her book and her affirmations were part of my first steps into the world of self-healing and personal development.

Good luck everyone. GO! do some affirmaitons and feel the force :-)

  7. Lib says:

Mmmm, I’m going to give it a go.

    • Hi Lib… that’s great to hear :) Give us some feedback in a while to let us know what you think about using them if that’s okay.

      • Jim & Em says:

GO! for it Lib and if you get the chance do watch ‘ What the bleep do we know’ DVD which looks at Quantum physics meets spirituality and how letting it all go your way to create your own reality.

        Guess what.

        It works.

  8. Urban Pagan says:

    PROVE IT

    with an adequate sample group

    you won’t

    you can’t

    it doesn’t

if you got the chance to see deren brown ‘the system’ on channel 4 in the uk on friday you will see how all this nonsense works.

    its easy.

even if Jim & Em ‘believe’ it works there could be 5 billion n this planet who believe it doesn’t. therefore its a 5 billion to one chance of being effective.

i.e such a statistically pathetic number you have a greater chance of winning the lottery 3 times on the bounce with the same numbers

think about it people- you are all being conned

in 5 years you’ll either - 1) look back on this with toes curled out fo embarrassment as you realise you swallowed every unproven cult concept going or 2) still be in the stupid bubble

the majority on here are on step away from religious cults. I am confident a few wiill head that way soon.

    sad

    • Hmmm…. “PROVE IT” sounds like someone who hasn’t been around for a while.

Who needs an adequate sample group when I know it works for me!! And it looks like they work for Arvind and his clients… although I will leave him to testify to that.

I will never look back in embarrassment from using affirmations. Fair dinkum buddy, religious cults are not my thing. My truths are mine and all I want is to share a little of what helps me and countless others to feel good and get them on track to achieving their goals. Try some and see if it doesn’t change your perspective on life. Honestly, you can’t say it’s humbug until you try it for yourself!!

  9. Urban Pagan says:

‘I know what works for me’

    should surely be

‘I know what I believe works for me’

as for you can’t say its humbug until you try it for yourself………..

by that same rationale you can’t possibly believe in an afterlife until you are dead

also you can’t build up a case of evidence unless you have experienced something first hand.

    for example

I do not need to throw myself off a building to know I cannot fly.

I know I cannot fly because evidence leads me to believe I cannot fly.

So, with all due respect, your assertion that until you have tried something you cannot dismiss it is flawed.

    But all the best regardless!

  10. LOL… interesting idea ;)

  11. Well it’s already past 6 here in Australia and no triffids have appeared… you didn’t use them correctly UP… try again.

  12. Urban Pagan says:

    oh dear

    so its all a sham

    shame eh?

I would hate to be so insecure that I have to wake up each day and make mysel happy.

not saying you are Ange but all this ‘I will smile today’ stuff is a bit sad. I prefer to wake up with a smile. And a couple of thai birds
