Go! Ask HOW! Not Why?

Posted on January 30th, 2008 by Mighty Morgan

Mighty Morgan here with my latest post.

Only when one can truly experience the moment through the eyes of acceptance. The path of change that leads to healing will never be seen, nor can it be traveled .

In my last post I wrote a bit about my history, as well as the struggle that comes with being willing to continue, even when I just don’t feel like it.

It’s about accepting responsibility for my life

There are times where it seems easier to point the proverbial fingers of blame at anything and everything outside of myself. The truth be told, swallowing the pill of personal responsibility for the life I have created at times leaves a bitter taste of remorse for the choices I have made.

But I know also that acceptance is not about feeling bad about what I did or did not do with my life. It’s not about pleading “Why Me?” to the universe; it’s about finding relief from the cycle of poor decisions that have continually plagued me throughout my life.

It’s about HOW I can change my life….

It offers me a choice.(Honesty of self)
It offers me hope. (Open-mindedness)
It offers me freedom of self. (Willingness)

I become willing to see that there may be another way.

  1. I can’t even begin to know how hard it must be for you to make those changes for the better, but this one tiny voice on the internet is glad you are doing it.

Who you are today is much more important than who you were in the past!

    • Thanks funkygirl….you are right about who I am today…but I also know that the aspects of my past at times still linger and BEG for me to act in ways that serve only to hurt myself……in more ways then just using substances…..

Willingness doesn’t mean I want to do what I have to do :)

    well said FG.

Mighty - keep the faith there. We can’t go back so no use even thinking about it.

I hope you find your peace and the road to it is a fulfilling one.

    • Thanks Jonathan…..I know I can’t go back…although sometimes i wish I could do it all over….and then there’s the times I’m okay with exactly where I am!!!!!

      • jonathan says:

here is exactly where I want to be - at this moment in time eh?

        • for the most part….many good things, but many aspects i am so UNCERTAIN about. Fear of living life often plagues the uncertainty I may feel in the moment…because the path before me is so UNKNOWN….sometimes the distorted security of the known feels more comfortable..even though very painful…..

    G’Day Morgan…

The person of yesterday is not the same person of today…. but is a part of the Todays Morgan…. all the experiences good, bad and otherwise have come together to make you the person you are…..
And that is a wonderful clever, intelligent and thoughtful person….

We have all done things we would rather not, seen things we wish we hadnt and experienced things we would like to forget.
But when you put all these things into a cooking pot, let it simmer for a while, it becomes something completely new…. YOU! Now that the you have reached this part of your life all you need to do add the spices to taste and refine the mix….
That way giving you a richer mix in all things in your life and a deeper understanding of lifes hurdles and pastures..

Good post again Mighty Morgan! Love your stuff here at flowers.

“I know also that acceptance is not about feeling bad about …”

To true and it is when people slip into self-pity instead of the acceptance you talk about, then they struggle to move on.
