Hi Mighty! Clever letter work…

We pop Vit C from time to time - washed down with Wheatgrass of course and the occassional cod liver oil / Glucosamine suplhate to reduce creaky joints later in life…

Fulfillment is the vitamin we’re focusing on a the moment that surpasses any form of ‘ happiness’ for us both. GO!Figure as they say stateside or Hasta la pasta as you say, mighty! Keep those phrases comin’!

just to say popping the odd glucosamine willhave little effect

the effectiveness of glucosamine where it has proved effective has been over a long period of time suggesting an accumulative effect to be possibly beneficial.

ivit c needs to be taken in split doses over the course of the day as its water soluble.

as ever here to help!

Glucosamine suplhate?

There is some evidence that it is beneficial but:

‘Systematic reviews of studies have found that many of the clinical trials testing complementary or alternative medicines have major flaws. These are due to bias from large company sponsorship, poor quality of research and small number of people being tested in the studies.’

‘As yet minimal side effects have been noted in rare reports in complementary medicine books and websites. These include skin rashes, headaches, downiness and mild stomach symptoms such as diarrhoea and flatulence. The long-term effects from use of glucosamine are not yet know.’

‘A study in the British Journal Sport Medicine (2003) gave subjects with regular knee pain, 12 weeks of a glucosamine supplement (2000mg per day). The results suggested that a glucosamine supplement can provide some degree of pain relief and improved mobility in subjects who experience regular, chronic knee pain due to cartilage damage and/or possible osteoarthritis. 88% of the glucosamine group did report less knee pain, however there were no objective improvements between groups in the functional tests’ - note the typical recommended dose from manufacturer is 1200 -1500mg per day compared with 2000mg in the study.

Balanced as ever Dave - just pointing out that there is no unbiased evidence - yet, or any long-term studies into the use of such suppliments. And the daily dosage used in the study was 25 - 40% higher than that recommended by the peddlars of such pills.

As with anything…I mean anything. There will always be those for the use, those against the use and those who couldn’t care the least.
They do provide something for some people..but not all

also far better to take a lose dose jab of nandrolone decanoate for joint health as thats what it was made for.

just be careful however as it may knock out your HPTA axis if taken in a supra-physiologival dose.

2007-11-14 15:48:33

WOW Gary…

Can you simplify that please and did you just google all that? Seriously..this HPTA axis??@!?!

Oh and does Vit C 1000mg a few times a day blast colds?

**Hope you don’t min me quizzing our Doc in the house at your post, Mighty?**

Nah…it’s no problem. I think that everyone has their own opinion on the “validity” of vitamins and such…..in the end if it helps you and doesn’t hurt you…Who cares!
I know that for me I take vitamin & mineral supplements for certain things and they do help…I also eat lost of fresh fruit and veggies for a natural supply of them!

In a nutshell it will cause a imbalance within your glandular (Endocrine System) they are created to work together and introducing some things into the body…SCREWS up that synchronicity….causing problems later on.

Oh those Anatomy and physiology classes I took….seems that I remember some things

I have dabbled in vitamins in the past but have never taken any long enough to feel any benefits. Or is it just because there are no benefits?

All vitamins can be ingested naturally by a healthy diet and thats how I get mine. I think your body actually tells you what you need more of.

Comment by Mighty Morgan
2007-11-14 19:54:20

Your right…I’m a firm believer that the body is self regulating in respects that is there is an imbalance of sorts…it will compensate by over stressing other aspects of the system, which in return show symptoms of imbalance. Thats my take anyway…all I know is that when i do incorporate the “essentials” overall I feel better..mentally, physically and emotionally.
best to get them naturally…but if that not a possibility then compensate with some vitamins and minerals.

Try spelling out these vitamins

Thiamine
Salt water and small quantity of germanium
Anthranilic acid
Adenylthiomethylpentose
Salt water and small quantity of germanium
ascorbic acid.
Phylloquinone
salicylic acid

Makes sense to me

Vitamins and Minerals are in my opinion needed as our soils are so depleted of these and really, the food we eat just doesn’t contain enough to sustain our bodies like it used to.

There is another Vitamin P = Play. A good dose of playing every day along with all those others MM mentioned are in my book along with some Omega 3 too. Calcium and anti-oxidants are also on my list.

Another good choice Ange…and a very welcome one…especially here at GO! We all do tend to take our daily dose here!
