I like to sit in the sun, very quietly, without squishing any harmless bugs or using any noxious chemicals, or eating food from Styrofoam cartons.

Spent most of the last week in the sea either swimming or kite surfing. However to get here I created a lot of CO2 from the plane ride. The planes were coming here anyway so is it personally my fault? Each flight was overbooked.
What we need is balance rather than total abstinence. As such I did spend some time removing plastic litter from my bit of the beach, this is not as altruistic as it sounds as I also love diving and reefs with plastic bags on them are a poor sight. Certainly it doesn’t make up for the CO2 but its better than nothing.
For the CO2 I guess I could claim that some of the process and design improvements I push through in work do help. The next thing will be to try and get some renewable energy sources installed in the plant but there isn’t a lot out there thats economically viable and given the lack of push from our oil driven economies (fueled by our consumers) it’ll be some time before there is.

Clutter clearing is where I can start and keeping plastic containers I buy and reusing them. Loved the ‘ baroque’ quote for industry!

I can honestly say I couldn’t give a toss about pollution or global warming. In fact I am going to go out today and buy some old fridges and keep them running all day and night. I will arrange to have them delivered to me by plane.

Hats off to you Gary, surely a fridge / freezer combo is more appropriate to help destroy the world.

I guess to have a zero carbon print on my rest time I need to hold my breath and think happy thoughts until my lungs pop. Well just before my lungs pop.

I am hopelessly wrapped up in my immediate environment but hey, such is life. I do recycle but ‘they’ reckon that cuases a bigger problem anyway, like the ‘unleaded fuel’ argument that is worse that leaded fuel due to benzene. Humph.

Non-polluting ways to enjoy yourself? When I really stop to think of ideas, all of the things I come up with are the GOOD things in life to do, ya know?

Here are a few favorite examples: go for a hike, whether it be through a beautiful forest or down an interesting street in your town; have a sing-a-long with friends or family, which I must say can be one of the best ways to truly bond with a group of people; read a library book, I mean, non-polluting AND free–how great; eat tasty food, but only if it doesn’t come in tons of packaging; and one last idea–sit down over coffee (bought from a bulk bin) and chat with your friends.

Anyways, how great is that to come up with such pure ways to relax! Afterall, who doesn’t love relaxing?

People tend to think big when the environment is concerned such as planes and car omissions, but we can all do something small to help the environment starting tomorrow and it won’t cost much.

How many of us take our own bags to the shop instead of using theirs?

How many of us have changed our light bulbs to the energy saving ones?

These two steps would make a big difference to start with if the majority of people did it!

Mel

Your two points

1) The bags- I will ask the women I order to do my shopping what they do.

2) The bubls- I will ask the women I order to change them what they do.

And then get back to you.
